今日は大学の国際センターからの要請を受けて会議に出席。

参加団体は５つ
・中国留学生会
・韓国留学生会
・台湾留学生会
・留学生委員会
・ＤＥＳＡ

４月から同志社大学に入学する留学生との交流会を企画して欲しいとのオファー。

例年は国際センター主導で行われているが、今年度から学生主体の企画にしたいらしい。
というのも例年、留学生は国籍別に固まる傾向がある。それを解消し国籍を超えた交流を促し、その後の展開に生かしていくという事をＤＥＳＡは期待されているんでしょう。

この企画ならＤＥＳＡが培ってきた交流ノウハウは活かせると確信。即参加確約してきました。

【ＤＥＳＡにとってのメリット】
①国際センターを含む学校全体からのイメージアップ
（おそらく同志社の全学生にむけて本企画は公開される事になる為）
②ＤＥＳＡの更なる多国籍化の可能性
（入学前の留学生に独占的にアプローチ可能）
③留学生系団体内でのＤＥＳＡの地位向上
（他の留学生団体との合同企画や提携の可能性を探れる）

と以上のようなメリットが考えられる。
しかもコストがゼロなのもポイント（人的・金銭的コストは限りなくゼロに近く、国際センターのバックアップで企画失敗のリスクがない。）

更にこれはまだ個人的な企みの域をでないものの、この企画はＤＥＳＡの活動の幅を広げる展開への発展が可能だと考えている。
というのも各国の留学生会は、あくまで内輪での活動に留まっていて、日本人学生との交流の機会を欲している。であれば、ＤＥＳＡが中心となり各留学生会を統合して、合同企画を司るような役割を担うことは十分可能だと思う。

彼らアジア圏からの留学生は欧米からの留学生に対して劣等感を持っている。
それは我々のような国際交流サークルが英語圏や欧米の留学生達ばかりにチヤホヤしてきたからに他ならない。ここは反省すべき点だと思う。

実際ある会議参加者から、
「欧米からの留学生でもなくても交流してくれるんですか？」
と聞かれた。この一言が彼らの意識を物語っている。

留学生とは日本人以外の全学生を指す。
であれば、彼らも含めて国際交流企画をする事をむしろ当然。
海外から留学生を招くだけが国際交流ではない。
彼らは４年間同志社で学ぶ。彼らとは４年間付き合い、しっかりと交流ができる。

この構想を具現化させる為には、まず今回の企画で彼らと信頼関係を構築し、その後の企画に繋げることが必須だ。企画を成功させたうえで、ドンドン合同企画を提案する事で彼らとの交流の機会を多く確保していく。
そうすれば最終的に彼らをＤＥＳＡに巻き込んでいくことは十分可能。

この構想はＤＥＳＡにとっても、各留学生会にとってもwin-winの関係を構築できる。

是非実現したい。きっと大きなリターンがある。

Hey, how've you been?
Sorry, I forgot to answer your question at Sato's blog. My final exam will take place on this May.
I truly expect u to give confidence to Asian students according to making friendship as they must feel lonesome.
And I don't want them to regard different nationalities as disadvantages. Naturally people from another country would experience certain discrimination or a sence of isolation, however they also should get know people who can share thier value, view and time.
In order for them to feel so, DESA needs to offer certain oppotunity to them. Then i strongly believe that U could learn something important from them,
Literally this is the international exchange,

I totally agree with you.
I believe we will be able to make great relationship with students from Asian countries. And that's what we have to do now!
If exchanges between them and DESA have become very active, that also means DESA becomes "international exchange association" in true sense.
This relation would be very important for DESA,. So I promise you to success this project!!!!

Everyone who lives in overseas would need some supports from someone for certain period. I' ve experienced some harassments several times. Today a group of boys made fun of me just walking down on the pavement. Then, however, a old man said ' stupid children' to me. I was helped by his sympathy to some extent. I believe that Japanese need to regard people from overseas as people ,not 外人. Before multi-cultural or multi-ethnic society will come about in Japan, how can Japanese get use to living with people from another country? I know that the DESA can do something about that.: otherwise Japanese society would give birth to children who discriminate 'people'. British society failed it. 外人 are more vulnerable than our image.　In addition, race and countries are indifferent at business in globalisation, isn't it.

How can we adjust Japanese ideology and society to globalisation?? It is quite difficult, but interesting issue.

Thank you for introducing the interesting case and article.
As a Black or White person living in Japan, they would typically get more attention than they need to. Japanese student are want to someone who can practice English, while others may be looking for friend. They would not have much difficulty finding someone willing to talk to them,. But for Asian People making friend might be more difficult in Japan.
That is simply because it is not "fashionable".
To the most of Janese people, being "international" is a matter of fashion. They want to become international simply because it is fashionable. But it is pity that, having a Chinese friend, would not have the same cachet, because they would not look any different from a Japanese.
So the association like DESA will have to handle this kind of problem, moreover I think THAT is the "significance of existence" of DESA.. We have to keep on concernining with Asian student in certain long term, and I really want to. I believe that will slowly but surely change the situation in Japan.
